Expanding appropriate digital and traditional participation tools at the municipal level

The aim of this project was to improve the quality of participation and increase citizen engagement in smaller and medium-sized municipalities in the Czech Republic.

Covid has shown that digital tools are a useful aid, but they will not lead to greater citizen engagement on their own. People want to meet and debate. Digital tools will help where personal participation is difficult or will help expand the number of respondents. Therefore, a tailor-made, effective combination of digital and traditional tools is best. There are a wide range of digital tools today and it is necessary to look for a conceptual solution that will lead to increasing or improving citizen participation. It is therefore necessary for city halls to be able to effectively use the available participation tools where appropriate and to fully exploit their potential.

In 2023, within the framework of this project, we:

held 23 meetings, consultations and seminars that helped to correctly set up the participation plan in the city
recorded another 2 continuations of the Agora TV webinar, the recording can be played on our YB channel
trained 13 municipalities that use our own digital templates for participatory planning and design
improved the form of the signpost for digital participation tools www.digitalniagora.cz
Agora CE also organized 2 networking events and webinars on topics related to participation at the local level as part of this project. N

The project Expanding suitable digital and traditional participation tools at the municipal level, running from January to December 2023, is provided with financial support from the state budget through

Ministerstva pro místní rozvoj.
