Moderation of public meetings

Some problems and topics require public discussion. Agora is a place where it is possible to discuss public matters with other citizens. Therefore, we prepare debates in such a way that we discuss the essentials, clarify the nature and causes of the problems, and at the same time allow everyone to participate as actively as possible. We organize various types of public debates; panel debates, roundtable discussions, pre-election debates, etc. If you have a topic you would like to discuss, send us your topics and we will help you implement the debate.

Project examples

Proposal for a change to the zoning plan in the Vidoule area - panel debate

The debate concerned city-wide significant changes to the zoning plan, specifically the location in Prague 5 – Na Vidouli, the territory of a natural park, in which the owners and their representatives are planning their development activities. Hundreds of people filled the lecture hall of the Jinonic building of Charles University. The meeting had the character of a public debate, in which the citizens present could learn about the intentions and roles of key actors in the process of changing the zoning plan. Representatives of the city hall, the municipality, the state administration and representatives of the land owners answered the citizens' questions.

Transportation in Spořilov – discussion on the plan

Life in Spořilov is significantly negatively affected by traffic on the Prague ring road. The public discussion on possible solutions to this situation attracted around 90 people. In addition to the discussion with the responsible councilor of the City of Prague, during the two-hour meeting we also presented the citizens with the context of all the solutions being considered and moderated a discussion with experts on the details of these solutions. We emphasized preparing the meeting in a way that it would be constructive and would not be disrupted by those who often feel that they are speaking on behalf of the majority. That is why we met with local associations and active individuals in advance. Their involvement in the preparation of the entire meeting was very important for the success of the meeting.

Discussion of the Bubny Zátory territorial study – presentation of the study and public discussion

Bubny, as one of the large brownfields in the center of Prague, requires a conceptual solution for future development that will build on the urban character of the Prague 7 district. The optimal way is to create a binding territorial study. We discussed this territorial study together with the professional and lay public. We invited representatives of the owner and developer, the study's authors, transport experts, and Prague and district councilors to the panel that answered the public's questions. In the inspiring environment of ARCHIP, people could learn what the entire city district should look like.
